BEHAVIOUR CONSULTING
Behaviour Consultation and Intervention services will be discontinued
on August 31, 2024. We are accepting new inquiries for short-term service only.

Claro will be refocusing on our centre-based programming with the goal
of expanding to create a primary-years program.

Serving Children Under Age 6, Over Age 6 & Young Adults

We start by listening

Maybe your child’s meltdowns seem to come out of nowhere? Maybe your child has made some progress with toileting but now is stuck? Maybe you want to enjoy a meal in a restaurant as a family? Maybe you're afraid your teen is going to be bullied because they won't wash their hair? Maybe you haven't slept in months, and don't even know where to start?

Our Claro Family Behaviour Consultants will listen carefully to discover what's most important to your family. Together, we will collaborate to set goals. Then we will design a simple and clear support plan that respects your family's dignity, autonomy, choice, culture, and unique circumstances.
We are on your team

Our Claro Family Behaviour Consultants will partner with your family to validate your experience, identify needs, set goals and provide the connection, support, systems, and resources you need to raise awareness, practice skills and achieve goals. There are no one-size fits all approaches or methods. We will meet you where you're at, and work 1:1 with your child and family in a way that works for all of you. Through connection and collaboration, we find a unique path to routine, predictability, and regulation.  We've got this... together!

Connection, not compliance

Our Behaviour Consultants include a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) on the Registry of Autism Service Provider (RASP), and a Family Support Consultant.  To learn more about our Behaviour Consultants serving the Kelowna area, please click here.

Our Behaviour Consultants are eager to collaborate with your team: grandparents, daycare providers, school-based teams, swim coaches, etc. Together, we will ensure that the progress you are making at home transfers across the many situations and important relationships in your child's life. We also actively collaborate with local Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Counsellors, Sleep Consultants, Family Connection Centre, and other professionals. We will help you connect to the services and resources that you need.

A Note on ABA

Claro recognizes that best practice in contemporary Applied Behaviour Analysis is evolving, and looks significantly different from its beginnings. Contemporary ABA is individualized, play-based, naturalistic, strengths-based, consensual, trauma-informed, and child and family-centered. We also recognize that ABA has been, and in some cases, continues to be, a deeply upsetting practice to some members and supporters of the Autistic community. We are here for these challenging conversations.

Families are complex and unique, and they deserve complex and unique support. You will get that at Claro!
Regardless of the prevailing trends of Autism intervention and funding in British Columbia, ALL services at Claro are trauma-sensitive, evidence-based, personalized, and delivered in line with Our Approach.
