Title:
Mentor (Education Assistant / Behaviour Interventionist)
Overview
Claro Nanaimo is hiring a full-time Mentor to support neurodivergent students in our learning centre.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support a pod of 3 neurodivergent students in their online school programs (ability to support Math & Science is an asset)
  • Collaborate with online teachers; organize materials, break down tasks, and report progress
  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group support in social-emotional regulation
  • Plan life-skills and therapeutic recreation activities (centre & community)
  • Prevent and de-escalate crises using non-violent intervention strategies
Qualifications
  • Relevant certificate, diploma, degree, or equivalent experience (EA, CYC, Psychology, CSW, etc.)
  • Experience with neurodivergent learners (Autism, FASD, ADHD, dyslexia, etc.)
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care and collaborative problem solving
  • Strong communication, organization, and resilience
  • Comfortable using Google Workspace
Requirements
  • Valid driver’s licence, reliable vehicle
  • Current First Aid certification
  • Availability to complete the full contract (minimum: mid-January to June)

  • Full-time (37.5 hrs/week) 5.5-month contract in 2025-2026; 10-month contract renewable annually
