Ready, Set, Go to Kindergarten!

Beginning July 2023 (enrolment opens May 1)

​The transition to kindergarten can be a big leap! Let us make it easier on your child and family by giving it a practice run. We will support a small group of little learners to build pre-kindergarten skills in a structured, supportive, and fun setting.

​Ready, Set, Go to Kindergarten runs twice a week for 4 weeks from 9:30-11:15 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, or Tuesdays and Thursdays. 

​Our Family Support Consultants will provide you a written report at the end of the program. This report may be helpful in communicating with your child's new school.

We are also happy to attend kindergarten transition and IEP meetings upon request (billable at Consultant rate). 

Kindergarten Readiness Skills​​​

• learning school routines: changing into indoor shoes, circle time, story time, stations, dismissal, etc.
• following a visual schedule
• communication: verbal and non-verbal, including AAC
• fine motor skills: colouring, holding a pencil, cutting, glueing, etc.
• executive functioning
• play skills: joint attention, parallel play, reciprocal play, turn taking, tidy up, initiating and ending
• advocacy: asking for help, stating needs, requesting to use the washroom, etc.
• boundaries: personal space, waiting 
• regulating movement: fidgets as tools not toys, ways to wiggle and move 
• safety: following verbal instructions, stop, consent, washroom routine 
• and more!
